Stats & Training
Everything pushes toward mixed damage here. Electabuzz's Speed does the work, Defense pays the price. But you're still getting 2 Speed EVs per KO. Tough to catch, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Electabuzz Weakness
Ground moves hit Electabuzz for super-effective damage. Not many exploitable gaps in the Electric typing defensive chart. Electabuzz's special bulk (base 85 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 2x (Weak) | Ground |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Electric, Flying, Steel |
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
In Diamond & Pearl, Flygon can KO Electabuzz with Earthquake (159-187%).

Electabuzz Guide
At 490 BST, Electabuzz is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Electivire before bringing it to any serious fight.
In Diamond & Pearl, watch for Rhydon (Ground) when using Electabuzz. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. Electabuzz's base 105 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.
In Diamond & Pearl, Elekid evolves into Electabuzz at level 30. Electabuzz evolves into Electivire while holding a Electirizer. Electabuzz is a middle-stage evolution in the Elekid line.
Static has a 30% chance of paralyzing attacking Pokémon on contact. That's the one you want on Electabuzz. Vital Spirit is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Electabuzz is a mixed attacker with base 83 Attack and 95 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 105 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the pivot role.
