Dugtrio's Ground typing gives it an immunity to Electric. Only 3 weaknesses on top of that — it has plenty of safe switch-in opportunities. A competitive option since Gen 1. Comfortably outruns most offensive threats.
Dugtrio's all-in on Speed at the expense of HP. The physical lean is obvious from the bars. Yields 2 Speed EVs and follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
A team of triplets that can burrow over 60 MPH. Due to this, some people think it’s an earthquake.
Dugtrio Weakness
AvgDugtrio's Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Grass, and Ice moves. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. At base 120 Speed, Dugtrio outspeeds most threats and doesn't need to tank what it can outrun.
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
Evolve Diglett at level 26 to get Dugtrio. At 425 stats, this Ground type caps the chain without any egg option. Evolving from Diglett gave Dugtrio the biggest boost in Attack (+45), bringing the total to 425 stats.
How to Evolve
an item and an ability form the backbone. Dugtrio invests flexible EVs EVs to play its attacker role properly, and a nature nature pushes higher. Earthquake handles the heavy lifting on offense. Normal coverage rounds it out.

Without TMs, Dugtrio's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Normal and Rock coverage on top of Earthquake and Dig for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Dugtrio sits at moderate rates across 2 spots in mid-game routes. Pick one from the sorted list and commit to it. Jumping between areas wastes more time than waiting in the right location.

Dugtrio has a 425 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier — a situational pick that fills a niche. It works best as a sweeper. Base 120 Speed is where it shines.
Dugtrio fills the sweeper role. It's a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Base 120 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
