Diglett sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Dugtrio as fast as possible. Part of the Gen 1 roster. Electric moves can't touch it, and only 3 types hit it super-effectively.
The stat bars tell the story: Speed carries everything and HP's dead weight. But this Mole Pokemon still yields 1 Speed EV per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
It prefers dark places. It spends most of its time underground, though it may pop up in caves.
Diglett Weakness
AvgType-wise, Diglett takes extra damage from Water, Grass, and Ice. Electric moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Not too many gaps in the chart, 3 weaknesses to account for.
- Only 15 types exist — Dark, Steel, and Fairy are absent
- Ghost has no effect on Psychic (a known bug, fixed in Gen II)
- Special stat governs both offense and defense — no Sp.Atk / Sp.Def split
Diglett starts a line toward Dugtrio. Can't breed this Ground type (265 stats), so keep the evolution path going. Evolving adds up to 160 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Nothing fancy here. Diglett builds around an item for extra utility, a nature nature for the right stat lean, and flexible EVs EVs. An ability does its job quietly.

- Earthquake
- Slash
- Sand Attack
- Rock Slide
Recommended Teammates
Most of Diglett's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Earthquake and Dig, but Normal and Rock and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.
