Almost nobody uses Combee in battle. It exists to evolve into Vespiquen, which is a completely different story. Get it there and you won't regret it. Introduced in Gen 4. Ground moves can't touch it, which offsets the 5 weaknesses somewhat.
Speed and Defense carry most of Combee's stat budget. HP's the obvious dump stat. Common in the wild and yields 1 Speed EV. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
At night, Combee sleep in a group of about a hundred, packed closely together in a lump.
The trio is together from birth. It constantly gathers nectar from flowers to please Vespiquen.
Combee Weakness
VulnerableCombee's Bug/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Rock, Fire, Electric, Ice, and Flying moves. Rock hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely.
One evolution ahead. Combee grows into Vespiquen through a straightforward two-stage chain. A decent partner pool for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are quick to hatch. The evolved forms gain up to 230 total stats over Combee.
How to Evolve
Combee doesn't rely on pure speed. Leftovers gives it passive recovery each turn to stay healthy, and Hasty nature still pushes offense. Lunge and Normal coverage keep the pressure on while a spread EV build EVs balance power and survivability.

Recommended Teammates
Not a lot to pick from. Combee gets Bug Buzz and Lunge for same-type damage, and Normal coverage rounds things out. You're building around what's available rather than choosing from a deep bench.

Combee is meant to evolve into Vespiquen. At 244 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Watch for Rhyperior (Rock), Infernape (Fire), and Jolteon (Electric) when using Combee. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Rhyperior is the most dangerous since Rock moves deal 4x damage. Ice and Flying-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.
Combee evolves into Vespiquen at level 21. Combee is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Honey Gather the Pokémon may pick up honey after battle — that's the one you want on Combee. Hustle is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Base 70 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Combee is a physical attacker with base 30 Attack. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Combee appears in 13 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.
