Amaura is technically a pre-evolution of Aurorus, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Snow Warning sets snow on switch-in, adding extra value. Watch the Fighting and Steel matchup though — quadruple damage means one hit can end it. Known as the Tundra Pokemon.

Nothing fancy in Amaura's spread. It leans mixed with HP out front. And you'll get 1 HP EV per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

Most of Amaura's flexibility comes from TMs. Same-type output runs through Meteor Beam and Blizzard, but Normal and Ground and the rest of the TM pool push it from predictable to genuinely threatening.

No wild encounters for Amaura in Legends: Z-A. It's available in X, Omega Ruby, or Sword and can be transferred over. The details below show where to find it.

Amaura is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • At 362 BST, Amaura is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Aurorus before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Amaura's biggest threats include Lucario (Fighting), Metagross (Steel), and Milotic (Water), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Lucario is the most dangerous since Fighting moves deal 4x damage. Grass, Ground, and Rock-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Amaura evolves into Aurorus at level 39. Amaura is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Amaura gets Snow Warning and Refrigerate. But Snow Warning is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Amaura is leaning toward the special side (base 67 Sp. Atk). But the speed tells the real story — base 46 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Amaura appears in 6 games, including X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Since X & Y, Amaura has been obtainable in 6 games. A Generation 6 debut means a shorter history, but Amaura has appeared steadily across every generation since.
