Aipom is technically a pre-evolution of Ambipom, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Ghost moves can't touch it, and only a single type hits it super-effectively. Built to hit on the physical side.
Speed and Attack carry most of Aipom's stat budget. Sp. Atk's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 1 Speed EV. Follows a fast 800K XP curve.
It uses its tail to hang on to tree branches. It uses its momentum to swing from one branch to another.
Aipom Weakness
GoodType-wise, Aipom takes extra damage from Fighting. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Just 1 weak spot to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def
Aipom doesn't evolve by leveling. You'll need knowing a specific move to push it forward to Ambipom. Evolving adds up to 122 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Breed Aipom easily with 66 breeding partners from the Ground egg group. Pass egg moves like Agility, Beat Up, Counter and 5 more to offspring.
Click Baton Pass, bring in a teammate, repeat. Aipom's pivot game is backed by Berserkgene for extra utility and flexible EVs EVs. An ability works in the background while the remaining moves covers bad matchups.

Aipom is meant to evolve into Ambipom. At 360 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Aipom's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Aipom evolves into Ambipom after learning Double Hit. Aipom is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Base 85 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Aipom is a physical attacker with base 70 Attack. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
