Don't let the raw stats fool you. Unaware ignores the opponent's stat boosts, and that completely changes the math for Pyukumuku. Only weak to Electric and Grass. One of the newer additions from Gen 7. Moves last in almost every matchup — perfect for Trick Room.

Pyukumuku's all-in on Defense at the expense of Speed. The physical lean is obvious from the bars. Yields 2 Sp. Def EVs and follows a fast 800K XP curve.

Pokedex Entries

It lives in warm, shallow waters. If it encounters a foe, it will spit out its internal organs as a means to punch them.

Sword

It’s covered in a slime that keeps its skin moist, allowing it to stay on land for days without drying up.

Shield

Pyukumuku Weakness

Good

Pyukumuku's Water typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric and Grass moves. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Pyukumuku's overall bulk (55/130/130) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

This is a pure walling set. Leftovers provides passive recovery each turn so Pyukumuku sticks around, and the Calm nature reinforces special wall. Recover handles sustain while Unaware does work passively.

  • Don't let Pyukumuku's 410 base stat total fool you. Unaware is what makes it tick — it punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a support.

  • Watch for Rotom (Electric) and Breloom (Grass) when using Pyukumuku. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 5 Speed, Pyukumuku won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Pyukumuku doesn't evolve and has no evolutionary line. It's a Water-type Pokemon with a 410 base stat total.

  • Run Unaware on Pyukumuku. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Pyukumuku also gets Innards Out, but they don't compare.

  • Pyukumuku fills the support role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 60 Attack). Base 5 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.

  • Pyukumuku can be found in Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Introduced in Sun & Moon, Pyukumuku has appeared in 3 games across 3 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
