While most trainers evolve Dipplin into Hydrapple immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Watch the Ice matchup though — quadruple damage means one hit can end it. One of the newer additions from Gen 9.
Dipplin's spread favors physical bulk over offense. Defense leads the defensive side, Speed eats the cost. Yields 2 Defense EVs per defeat. Standard growth curve to level.
Dipplin Weakness
FragileDipplin's Grass/Dragon typing leaves it vulnerable to Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug, Dragon, and Fairy moves. Ice hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Dipplin's physical bulk (base 110 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
Dipplin's evolution chain splits 3 ways into Flapple, Appletun, and Dipplin. The method you choose determines which form you get. So far, Sp.Atk got the biggest boost (+55 from Applin). The final form adds another 55 stats on top.

This is a pure walling set. Eviolite provides a bulk boost that only works before full evolution so Dipplin sticks around, and the Relaxed nature reinforces slow wall. Recover handles sustain while Stickyhold does work passively.

Without TMs, Dipplin's movepool is bare bones. With them, you get Ghost and Normal coverage and more on top of Draco Meteor and Leaf Storm for STAB. The natural kit handles basics, but TMs are doing the real work.

Dipplin isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Hydrapple to unlock its full potential. At 485 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Watch for Weavile (Ice), Roserade (Poison), and Braviary (Flying) when using Dipplin. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Weavile is the most dangerous since Ice moves deal 4x damage. Bug, Dragon, and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 6 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. At base 40 Speed, Dipplin won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Supersweet Syrup once per battle, when a Pokémon with Supersweet Syrup enters the battle, it lowers the evasion stat of all adjacent opponents by one stage — that's the one you want on Dipplin. Sticky Hold is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Gluttony works too if your team needs something different.
Dipplin fills the trick room role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 95 Sp. Atk). Base 40 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
