Pokemon Encounters

Four 1% walking encounters make this the ultimate rare hunt: Kangaskhan, Tauros, Scyther, and Chansey. Dragonair at 1% via Super Rod is the fishing jackpot. Dratini sits at a friendlier 15% on the rod.

Safari Zone Guide

  • You get 30 Safari Balls and 500 steps per entry at 500 Pokedollars each visit. Throwing a rock makes a Pokemon easier to catch but more likely to flee. Bait does the opposite: harder to catch but it sticks around longer. For the rarest targets like Chansey and Tauros, skip bait and rocks entirely and just throw Safari Balls straight away for the best overall odds.

  • Depends what you want. The North area has Chansey at 4% and Tauros at 1%, plus HM03 Surf and the Gold Teeth. The East area has Kangaskhan at 4%. The Center area near the entrance is better for Scyther (FireRed, 4%) or Pinsir (LeafGreen, 4%). Dragonair sits at 1% via Super Rod in all four areas.

  • Yes, and it doesn't cost steps. Fishing in Safari Zone is how you get Dratini and Dragonair. Dragonair is 1% with the Super Rod in all four areas. Since fishing doesn't count against your 500-step limit, you can farm encounters as long as you want without paying another entry fee.
