Yungoos doesn't have much going for it on its own — the stats just aren't there. The payoff is Gumshoos, and getting there is worth the grind. Known as the Loitering Pokemon. Part of the Gen 7 roster.
Nothing fancy in Yungoos's spread. It leans physical with Attack out front. And you'll get 1 Attack EV per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
With its sharp fangs, it will bite anything. It did not originally live in Alola but was imported from another region.
It wanders around in a never-ending search for food. At dusk, it collapses from exhaustion and falls asleep on the spot.
Yungoos Weakness
GoodType-wise, Yungoos takes extra damage from Fighting. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Yungoos's Normal typing only leaves 1 gap to cover.
Yungoos is the base form in a two-stage line leading to Gumshoos. Check the evolution method below. No compatible partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are quick to hatch. Evolving adds up to 165 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Breed Yungoos easily from the Ground egg group. Pass egg moves like Last Resort, Revenge to offspring.
Best Build

The level-up pool tells the story here. Yungoos learns Take Down and Thrash naturally, plus enough variety that TMs feel like bonuses. Dark and Ground coverage and more extends the reach beyond that.

Yungoos is available from early-game routes onward at high spawn rates. 32 encounter spots give you plenty of options. Grab one early and it'll be ready to evolve or train by mid-game.
Best Locations
Yungoos's encounter pool splits between Moon and Sun. You've got 32 walking spots at Lv. 2-20 total, but your version determines which ones actually show up.
At 253 BST, Yungoos is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Gumshoos before bringing it to any serious fight.
Yungoos's biggest threats include Conkeldurr (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Yungoos evolves into Gumshoos at level 20. Yungoos is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Yungoos gets Adaptability, Stakeout, and Strong Jaw. But Adaptability is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Yungoos is a physical attacker with base 70 Attack. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
Yungoos can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Since Sun & Moon, Yungoos has been obtainable in 3 games. A Generation 7 debut means a shorter history, but Yungoos has appeared steadily across every generation since.
