Talonflame's Fire/Flying typing gives it an immunity to Ground. Only 3 weaknesses on top of that — it has plenty of safe switch-in opportunities. Known as the Scorching Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.
Talonflame's built around mixed offense. Speed leads the charge, Sp. Def pays for it. Tough to catch, worth 3 Speed EVs. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
Its favorite foods are Wingull and Pikipek. It attacks with a powerful kick and grasps them firmly in its talons.
It zooms directly at its prey at flight speeds of close to 310 mph, while fiery embers scatter from gaps in its feathers.
Talonflame Weakness
ExcellentTalonflame's Fire/Flying typing leaves it vulnerable to Rock, Water, and Electric moves. Rock hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Ground-type attacks completely. 6 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that.
Talonflame is the final form in a three-stage chain from Fletchling through Fletchinder. Breeding this form produces Fletchling eggs (quick to hatch). Evolving from Fletchling gave Talonflame the biggest boost in Speed (+64), bringing the total to 499 stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Talonflame to get Fletchling eggs easily from the Flying egg group. Notable egg moves include Quick Guard, Snatch, Tailwind.
Flame Body isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Leftovers for passive recovery each turn and a spread EV build EVs, Talonflame fills the setup attacker slot reliably. Hardy nature finishes the spread.

Talonflame has a 499 base stat total and ranks as C-Tier — a situational pick that fills a niche. It works best as a pivot. Base 126 Speed is where it shines.
Watch for Rhyperior (Rock), Milotic (Water), and Jolteon (Electric) when using Talonflame. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Rhyperior is the most dangerous since Rock moves deal 4x damage. Talonflame's base 126 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.
Fletchinder evolves into Talonflame at level 35. Talonflame is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Fletchling. At 499 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.
Flame Body has a 30% chance of burning attacking Pokémon on contact — that's the one you want on Talonflame. Gale Wings is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.
Talonflame fills the pivot role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 81 Attack). Base 126 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Talonflame appears in 7 games, including X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Introduced in X & Y, Talonflame has appeared in 7 games across 4 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
