Scatterbug sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Vivillon as fast as possible. Known as the Scatterdust Pokemon. Introduced in Gen 6.
An unusually even spread gives Scatterbug flexibility. Defense barely edges ahead. But Sp. Def isn't far off. Easy to catch and follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve. Yields 1 Defense EV.
When under attack from bird Pokémon, it spews a poisonous black powder that causes paralysis on contact.
The powder that covers its body regulates its temperature, so it can live in any region or climate.

Scatterbug is meant to evolve into Spewpa. At 200 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Scatterbug's biggest threats include Volcarona (Fire), Talonflame (Flying), and Aerodactyl (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. At base 35 Speed, Scatterbug won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Scatterbug evolves into Spewpa at level 9. Scatterbug is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.
Shield Dust is the go-to ability for Scatterbug. It protects against incoming moves' extra effects. Its hidden ability Friend Guard can work in specific setups. Compound Eyes is the other option — pick based on what your team needs.
Base 35 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Scatterbug is a physical attacker with base 35 Attack. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
