Stats & Training
Speed and Attack carry most of Rattata's stat budget. Sp. Atk's the obvious dump stat. Easy to catch and yields 1 Speed EV. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
With its incisors, it gnaws through doors and infiltrates people's homes. Then, with a twitch of its whiskers, it steals whatever food it finds.
When the sun goes down, it becomes active. It runs around town on a chase for good food for the boss of its nest—Raticate
Rattata Weakness
Rattata's Dark/Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting, Bug, and Fairy. Fighting hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Psychic and Ghost-type attacks completely. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.
| Damage | Types |
|---|---|
| 4x (Critical) | Fighting |
| 2x (Weak) | Bug, Fairy |
| 0.5x (Resist) | Dark |
| 0x (Immune) | Psychic, Ghost |
In Sun & Moon, Volcarona can KO Rattata with Giga Drain (93-109%). Togekiss threatens a KO with Air Slash (128-150%).

Sun & Moon Rattata Best Moveset
One guaranteed turn is all Rattata needs. Focus Sash buys it, spread EVs make it count, and Hustle adds something extra. The goal: deal early damage and deal damage with Endeavor. The remaining moves gives it play beyond just the lead turn.
