While most trainers evolve Pansage into Simisage immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Introduced in Gen 5. Known as the Grass Monkey Pokemon.

An unusually even spread gives Pansage flexibility. Speed barely edges ahead. But Defense isn't far off. Common in the wild and follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve. Yields 1 Speed EV.

It shares the leaf on its head with weary-looking Pokémon. These leaves are known to relieve stress.

Omega Ruby

It’s good at finding berries and gathers them from all over. It’s kind enough to share them with friends.

Alpha Sapphire

Pansage Weakness

Fragile

Pansage's Grass typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug moves. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. 5 weaknesses means you'll want teammates that can handle the coverage gaps.

Tutor Moves

Pansage can't be caught in Legends: Z-A. Bring it over from Black, Black 2, or X instead. The encounter info below covers the source games.

Pansage is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • Pansage is meant to evolve into Simisage. At 316 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Watch for Arcanine (Fire), Walrein (Ice), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Pansage. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Pansage evolves into Simisage using a Leaf Stone. Pansage is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Gluttony makes the Pokémon eat any held Berry triggered by low HP below 1/2 its max HP — that's the one you want on Pansage. Overgrow is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • At base 64 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Pansage is leaning toward the physical side (base 53 Attack). Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Pansage appears in 7 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Pansage joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 7 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
