Dragon/Fighting gives Kommo-o strong STAB coverage, and its stat spread wastes nothing on the offensive side. It sits at a decent but contested Speed tier. Known as the Scaly Pokemon. Introduced in Gen 7.
Defense and Attack carry most of Kommo-o's stat budget. HP's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 3 Defense EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
It clatters its tail scales to unnerve opponents. This Pokémon will battle only those who stand steadfast in the face of this display.
Certain ruins have paintings of ancient warriors wearing armor made of Kommo-o scales.
Kommo O Weakness
FragileKommo O is weak to Fairy, Ice, Flying, Psychic, and Dragon-type moves. Watch out for Fairy attacks, those deal 4x damage. With 7 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Kommo O's overall bulk (75/125/105) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.
End of the line. Kommo O caps a three-stage chain that started at Jangmo O. Breeding produces the base form, and eggs are takes forever to hatch. Defense grew the most through evolution (+60 over Jangmo O), and Kommo O peaks at 600 total stats.
How to Evolve
Breed with Kommo-o to get Jangmo O eggs using 60 partners from the Dragon egg group. Notable egg moves include Counter, Dragon Breath, Focus Punch.
Kommo O runs a standard attacker set. Naive nature with max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs shapes the build, while Kommoniumz brings extra utility. Bulletproof supports the kit from the background.

The TM pool is where it gets interesting. Coverage across 11 types means almost nothing walls Kommo O cleanly, with Focus Punch and Outrage anchoring the STAB side. Matchup flexibility isn't a problem.

Step 3Kommo-o ✓
We rate Kommo-o B-Tier — a solid choice for the right team. At 600 BST, it fits the tank role. Base 125 Defense stands out.
Kommo-o's biggest threats include Mimikyu (Fairy), Kyurem (Ice), and Talonflame (Flying), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Mimikyu is the most dangerous since Fairy moves deal 4x damage. Psychic and Dragon-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter. Kommo-o has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.
Bulletproof is the go-to ability for Kommo-o. It protects against bullet, ball, and bomb-based moves. Its hidden ability Overcoat can work in specific setups. Soundproof is the other option — pick based on what your team needs.
Base 85 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Kommo-o is a special attacker with base 100 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits. Best used as a tank.
Kommo-o can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Sword & Shield, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Kommo O joined the series in Sun & Moon and has been available in 4 titles so far. With 3 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
