Klang is technically a pre-evolution of Klinklang, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Poison moves can't touch it, and only 3 types hit it super-effectively. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets. Been around since Gen 5.

Klang's spread isn't flashy. Defense leads, Speed trails, 3 stats clear the bar. Moderately hard to find and worth 2 Defense EVs, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

When Klang goes all out, the minigear links up perfectly with the outer part of the big gear, and this Pokémon’s rotation speed increases sharply.

Sword

Many companies in the Galar region choose Klang as their logo. This Pokémon is considered the symbol of industrial technology.

Shield

Klang Weakness

Excellent

Klang is weak to Fire, Fighting, and Ground-type moves. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. 10 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. With 60 HP and balanced defenses, Klang can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Klang develops a solid moveset just through leveling. Zap Cannon and Hyper Beam show up naturally, and the progression handles both STAB and utility without leaning on TMs for the core attacks.

  2. Klang
    Step 2Klang
  • Klang isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Klinklang to unlock its full potential. At 440 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Klang's biggest threats include Charizard (Fire), Hitmonlee (Fighting), and Swampert (Ground), all carrying super-effective STAB moves.

  • Klink evolves into Klang at level 38. Klang evolves into Klinklang at level 49. Klang is a middle-stage evolution in the Klink line.

  • Plus is the go-to ability for Klang. It increases Special Attack to 1.5× when a friendly Pokémon has plus or minus. Its hidden ability Clear Body can work in specific setups. Minus is the other option — pick based on what your team needs.

  • Klang fills the balanced role. It's a mixed attacker — base 80 Attack and 70 Sp. Atk. Base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.

  • Klang appears in 7 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Introduced in Black & White, Klang has appeared in 7 games across 5 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
