Free switch-ins on Normal and Fighting moves make Jellicent useful in any team that needs that coverage. Water Absorb heals when hit by Water moves. Known as the Floating Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.
Jellicent's built to absorb hits, not race for knockouts. Special bulk with Sp. Def doing the heavy lifting. And the medium-fast 1M XP curve means it won't take forever to bring up, worth 2 Sp. Def EVs.
The fate of the ships and crew that wander into Jellicent’s habitat: all sunken, all lost, all vanished.
They propel themselves by expelling absorbed seawater from their bodies. Their favorite food is life energy.
Jellicent Weakness
ExcellentElectric, Grass, Ghost, and Dark-type moves hit Jellicent for super-effective damage. The upside? Normal and Fighting-type moves can't touch it at all. It resists 6 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Jellicent's special bulk (base 105 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
Jellicent is what Frillish becomes. Breed it for Frillish eggs (average hatch time). A decent partner pool for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are average hatch time. The evolution from Frillish pushed Jellicent to 480 total stats. HP saw the largest single gain at +45.
How to Evolve
Breed with Jellicent to get Frillish eggs easily using 45 partners from the Indeterminate egg group. Notable egg moves include Acid Armor, Confuse Ray, Constrict and 3 more.
Timid nature gives Jellicent the fast special lean it needs to trade hits effectively. Leftovers adds passive recovery each turn, a spread EV build EVs split the difference, and utility options punishes anything trying to wall it. Recover keeps it topped off between trades.

Don't skip the egg moves. Jellicent picks up Acid Armor and Confuse Ray only through breeding, and both fill gaps the natural movepool can't. STAB runs through Water Spout and Hydro Pump while Grass and Normal coverage and more adds range.

Jellicent looks average on paper at 480 BST. But Water Absorb is why it sees play — build around that and it pulls its weight. B-Tier support on our tier list.
Watch for Raikou (Electric), Breloom (Grass), and Chandelure (Ghost) when using Jellicent. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Dark-type attackers are also a problem.
Frillish evolves into Jellicent at level 40. Jellicent is the fully evolved form. At 480 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.
Jellicent gets Water Absorb, Cursed Body, and Damp. But Water Absorb is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.
Jellicent is a special attacker with base 85 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — at base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. Fits the support role.
Jellicent appears in 7 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.
Since Black & White, Jellicent has been obtainable in 7 games. A Generation 5 debut means a shorter history, but Jellicent has appeared steadily across every generation since.
