As a baby Pokemon, Elekid is mostly a stepping stone. It eventually becomes Electivire, and that's where you want to end up. The Electric Pokémon — cute, but not battle-ready. Known as the Electric Pokemon.

Everything pushes toward mixed damage here. Elekid's Speed does the work, Defense pays the price. But you're still getting 1 Speed EV per KO. Tough to catch, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

ELEKID stores electricity in its body. If it touches metal and accidentally discharges all its built-up electricity, this POKéMON begins swinging its arms in circles to recharge itself.

Best Build

No build content available for this Pokemon in Gen 3.

Try selecting a different game/generation filter, or check back later.

The natural movepool does the job, but Barrier and Cross Chop from the egg pool give Elekid something extra. Pair those with Thunder and Thunderbolt for STAB and Normal and Fighting coverage and more for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

Tutor Moves

Elekid can't learn any Tutor moves

Elekid can't be caught in Ruby & Sapphire. Bring it over from Crystal, Diamond, or Legends: Arceus instead. The encounter info below covers the source games.

Elekid is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • At 360 BST, Elekid is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Electabuzz before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Watch for Rhydon (Ground) when using Elekid. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Elekid evolves into Electabuzz at level 30. Elekid is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Static has a 30% chance of paralyzing attacking Pokémon on contact — that's the one you want on Elekid. Vital Spirit is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses.

  • Elekid is leaning toward the special side (base 65 Sp. Atk). Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 95 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many.

  • Elekid appears in 18 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.

Debuting in Gold & Silver, Elekid appears in 18 games across 8 generations. A reliable presence in most mainline games, typically found through catching or hatching as a base form.
