Dewott sits in the middle of its evolution line — stronger than Oshawott but not yet at full power. Most trainers push through to Samurott as fast as possible. Only weak to Electric and Grass. Known as the Discipline Pokemon.

An unusually even spread gives Dewott flexibility. Sp. Atk barely edges ahead. But Defense isn't far off. Tough to catch and follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve. Yields 2 Sp. Atk EVs.

Its exquisite double-scalchop technique is likely the result of daily training, and it can send even masters of the blade fleeing in defeat.

Dewott Weakness

Good

Type-wise, Dewott takes extra damage from Electric and Grass. 4 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Just 2 weak spots to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.

Partway through Oshawott's chain. Dewott still has another evolution ahead before reaching Samurott. For breeding, average hatch time with no compatible partners via one egg group. HP has grown the most so far (+20), but there's still another 115 stats to gain in the final evolution.

Breeding's the move. Air Slash and Assurance give Dewott options it can't learn any other way, and coverage across 9 types already covers a decent range on top of Hydro Pump and Aqua Tail. The egg moves push it further.

Dewott isn't available in the wild in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Start by transferring Oshawott from Black, Black 2, or Legends: Arceus. The evolution path from Oshawott to Dewott is covered in the steps below.

How to Obtain Dewott in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

  1. Dewott
    Step 2Dewott
  • Dewott is meant to evolve into Samurott. At 413 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Dewott's biggest threats include Manectric (Electric) and Roserade (Grass), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Oshawott evolves into Dewott at level 17. Dewott can evolve into Samurott and Hisuian Samurott depending on the method. Dewott is a middle-stage evolution in the Oshawott line.

  • Torrent is the go-to ability for Dewott. It strengthens water moves to inflict 1.5× damage at 1/3 max HP or less. Its hidden ability Shell Armor can work in specific setups.

  • At base 60 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Dewott is a physical attacker with base 75 Attack.

  • Dewott appears in 8 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Dewott joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
