Levitate gives it a Ground immunity, letting Carnivine hit way above its stat class. Grass typing helps — 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Part of the Gen 4 roster. Works well under Trick Room.

Nothing fancy in Carnivine's spread. It leans mixed with Attack out front. And you'll get 2 Attack EVs per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.

  • Carnivine looks average on paper at 454 BST. But Levitate is why it sees play — build around that and it pulls its weight. D-Tier attacker on our tier list.

  • Watch for Infernape (Fire), Lapras (Ice), and Nidoking (Poison) when using Carnivine. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Flying and Bug-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Carnivine doesn't evolve and has no evolutionary line. It's a Grass-type Pokemon with a 454 base stat total.

  • Carnivine gets Levitate. But Levitate is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Carnivine is a mixed attacker — base 100 Attack and 90 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 46 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the attacker role.

  • Carnivine appears in 12 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.

Debuting in Diamond & Pearl, Carnivine appears in 12 games across 7 generations. A reliable presence in a solid number of games, typically found through wild encounters.
