Slow is good when Trick Room is up, and Camerupt is about as slow as they come. Fire/Ground typing gives it a defined role on the team. Electric moves can't touch it, and only 2 types hit it super-effectively. Known as the Eruption Pokemon.

Nothing fancy in Camerupt's spread. It leans mixed with Sp. Atk out front. And you'll get 2 Attack and Sp. Atk EVs per KO for it. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.

CAMERUPT has a volcano inside its body. Magma of 18,000 degrees F courses through its body. Occasionally, the humps on this POKéMON’s back erupt, spewing the superheated magma.

Ruby

The humps on CAMERUPT’s back are formed by a transformation of its bones. They sometimes blast out molten magma. This POKéMON apparently erupts often when it is enraged.

Camerupt Weakness

Good

Camerupt's Fire/Ground typing leaves it vulnerable to Water and Ground moves. Water hits land at 4x, so they're the biggest threat. It shrugs off Electric-type attacks completely. The Fire/Ground typing picks up 4 resistances to work with. Solid Rock reduces SE moves damage, further improving the defensive spread.

Brave nature gives Camerupt the slow physical lean it needs to trade hits effectively. Leftovers adds passive recovery each turn, a spread EV build EVs split the difference, and Normal coverage punishes anything trying to wall it.

    Step 2Camerupt
  • Camerupt works as an attacker with 460 BST behind it. C-Tier on our list — a situational pick that fills a niche. That 105 base Sp. Atk does the heavy lifting.

  • Watch for Milotic (Water) and Swampert (Ground) when using Camerupt. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Milotic is the most dangerous since Water moves deal 4x damage. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 40 Speed, Camerupt won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Numel evolves into Camerupt at level 33. Camerupt is the fully evolved form. It sits at 460 BST in its evolved form.

  • Magma Armor prevents freezing — that's the one you want on Camerupt. Anger Point is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Solid Rock works too if your team needs something different.

  • Camerupt is a physical attacker with base 100 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 40 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the attacker role.

  • Camerupt appears in 15 games, including Ruby & Sapphire, FireRed & LeafGreen, and Emerald.

Debuting in Ruby & Sapphire, Camerupt appears in 15 games across 7 generations. A reliable presence in most mainline games, typically found through wild encounters.
