Mandibuzz's Dark/Flying typing gives it an immunity to Ground and Psychic. The 4 weaknesses are the tradeoff, but that immunity creates real opportunities. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets. Been around since Gen 5.

Mandibuzz's spread favors balanced defenses over offense. HP leads the defensive side, Sp. Atk eats the cost. Yields 2 Sp. Atk EVs per defeat. Slow 1.25M XP grind to level.

Although it’s a bit of a ruffian, this Pokémon will take lost Vullaby under its wing and care for them till they’re ready to leave the nest.

They adorn themselves with bones. There seem to be fashion trends among them, as different bones come into and fall out of popularity.

Mandibuzz Weakness

Good

Type-wise, Mandibuzz takes extra damage from Electric, Ice, Rock, and Fairy. Ground and Psychic moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Mandibuzz's overall bulk (110/105/95) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Mandibuzz's built to absorb hits. Impish nature leans into physical wall duty, Heavy-Duty Boots gives it hazard immunity on every switch-in, and Roost handles sustain. Overcoat and max HP and Defense EVs tie the defensive profile together.

TMs define Mandibuzz's movepool. The natural moves cover basics with Sky Attack and Brave Bird, but the real versatility comes from technical machines giving it Normal and Fire coverage and more. That's where the options open up.

Mandibuzz isn't available in the wild in Scarlet & Violet. Start by transferring Vullaby from Black, Black 2, or Shield. The evolution path from Vullaby to Mandibuzz is covered in the steps below.

How to Obtain Mandibuzz in Scarlet & Violet

  1. Mandibuzz
    Step 2Mandibuzz
  • Mandibuzz has a 510 base stat total and ranks as B-Tier — a solid choice for the right team. It works best as a support. Base 110 HP is where it shines.

  • Mandibuzz's biggest threats include Manectric (Electric), Cloyster (Ice), and Tyranitar (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. Mandibuzz has enough bulk to absorb a hit, but don't push the matchup. Pivot to a teammate that resists.

  • Vullaby evolves into Mandibuzz at level 54. Mandibuzz is the fully evolved form. At 510 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.

  • Big Pecks is the go-to ability for Mandibuzz. It protects against Defense drops. Its hidden ability Weak Armor can work in specific setups. Overcoat is the other option — pick based on what your team needs.

  • Mandibuzz fills the support role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 65 Attack). Base 80 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. And it's tanky enough to absorb a few hits.

  • Mandibuzz appears in 8 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Introduced in Black & White, Mandibuzz has appeared in 8 games across 5 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
