Wattrel doesn't have much going for it on its own — the stats just aren't there. The payoff is Kilowattrel, and getting there is worth the grind. Introduced in Gen 9. Ground moves can't touch it, and only 2 types hit it super-effectively.
Speed and Sp. Atk carry most of Wattrel's stat budget. Defense's the obvious dump stat. Common in the wild and yields 1 Speed EV. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
When its wings catch the wind, the bones within produce electricity. This Pokémon dives into the ocean, catching prey by electrocuting them.
These Pokémon make their nests on coastal cliffs. The nests have a strange, crackling texture, and they’re a popular delicacy.
Wattrel Weakness
ExcellentWattrel is weak to Ice and Rock-type moves. On the flip side, it's immune to Ground-type moves entirely. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses. Volt Absorb grants an additional Electric immunity, reshaping the matchup chart.
One evolution ahead. Wattrel grows into Kilowattrel through a straightforward two-stage chain. Plenty of partners for breeding via two egg groups. Eggs are average hatch time. Evolving adds up to 210 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Don't let the NFE status fool you. Wattrel with Eviolite hits bulk numbers that compete with final forms. A spread EV build EVs and Timid nature maximize that, and Voltabsorb handles the rest. Roost patches up chip damage.

Recommended Teammates
TMs carry this one. Wattrel learns Brave Bird and Hurricane naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Normal and Bug and beyond give it real matchup play.

Wattrel is available from early-game routes onward at high spawn rates. 56 encounter spots give you plenty of options. Grab one early and it'll be ready to evolve or train by mid-game.
Best Locations
Wattrel's encounter pool splits between Violet and Scarlet. You've got 56 walking spots at Lv. 14-29 total, but your version determines which ones actually show up.
Wattrel is meant to evolve into Kilowattrel. At 280 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Wattrel evolves into Kilowattrel at level 25. Wattrel is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Volt Absorb is what you want on Wattrel. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Wind Power, Competitive) work on paper but Volt Absorb is what makes Wattrel worth using.
Base 70 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. On offense, Wattrel is a mixed attacker — base 40 Attack and 55 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Wattrel can be found in Scarlet & Violet.
Wattrel joined the series in Scarlet & Violet and has been available in 1 titles so far. With 1 generation of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
