While most trainers evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna immediately, the unevolved form has a niche with Eviolite boosting its defenses. Ghost moves can't touch it, and only a single type hits it super-effectively. Relies on priority moves or Scarf to keep up.
Attack and HP carry most of Ursaring's stat budget. Speed's the obvious dump stat. Moderately hard to find and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
With its ability to distinguish any aroma, it unfailingly finds all food buried deep underground.
Although it has a large body, it is quite skilled at climbing trees. It eats and sleeps in the treetops.
Ursaring Weakness
GoodFighting-type moves hit Ursaring for super-effective damage. The upside? Ghost-type moves can't touch it at all. With 90 HP and balanced defenses, Ursaring can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.
Sitting between Teddiursa and Ursaluna, Ursaring is part of a chain that requires an evolution item. Not your typical level-up setup. So far, Attack got the biggest boost (+50 from Teddiursa). The final form adds another 50 stats on top.
How to Evolve
Breed with Ursaring to get Teddiursa eggs easily from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Belly Drum, Chip Away, Close Combat and 12 more.
Ursaring runs Swords Dance to boost before sweeping. Quickfeet and Jolly nature shape the build, with max Attack and Speed EVs to capitalize after one turn of setup, plus Ground coverage to back it up.

Ursaring is meant to evolve into Ursaluna. At 500 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Watch for Hitmonlee (Fighting) when using Ursaring. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Guts increases Attack to 1.5× with a major status ailment — that's the one you want on Ursaring. Unnerve is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Quick Feet works too if your team needs something different.
At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Ursaring is a physical attacker with base 130 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.
Ursaring appears in 17 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.
Obtainable through an item-based evolution, Ursaring appears in 17 titles across 8 generations since Gold & Silver. The evolution method adds a barrier that wild-catchable Pokemon don't have.
