Tepig sits at the start of its evolution line — not yet at full power, but that changes fast. Most trainers push through to Emboar as fast as possible. Only weak to Water, Ground, and Rock. Known as the Fire Pig Pokemon.
Tepig's stats barely vary. 0 sit in respectable range with no real gaps. It's a blank slate for EV investment. Worth 1 HP EV, 1.06M XP medium-slow curve to max.
It can deftly dodge its foe’s attacks while shooting fireballs from its nose. It roasts berries before it eats them.
It loves to eat roasted berries, but sometimes it gets too excited and burns them to a crisp.
Tepig Weakness
AvgType-wise, Tepig takes extra damage from Water, Ground, and Rock. 6 resistances give it solid defensive coverage on top of that. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.
Tepig is the start of a three-stage chain. It evolves into Pignite first, then eventually reaches Emboar. For breeding, average hatch time with a massive partner pool via one egg group. Evolving adds up to 220 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Breed Tepig with 195 breeding partners from the Ground egg group. Pass egg moves like Sucker Punch, Superpower, Thrash and 1 more to offspring.
Nothing fancy here. Tepig builds around Leftovers for passive recovery each turn, Careful nature for the right stat lean, and max HP and Sp. Def EVs. Thickfat does its job quietly.

Hard to wall, honestly. Tepig threatens 10 types beyond its own STAB, with Normal and Poison standing out. Pair that with Overheat and Flare Blitz and switchins need to think twice.

Run Thick Fat on Tepig. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Tepig also gets Blaze, but they don't compare.
