Stats & Training

Everything pushes toward physical damage here. Staraptor's Attack does the work, Sp. Atk pays the price. But you're still getting 3 Attack EVs per KO. Tough to catch, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.

When STARAVIA evolve into STARAPTOR, they leave the flock to live alone. They have sturdy wings.

Staraptor Weakness

Type-wise, Staraptor takes extra damage from Electric, Ice, and Rock. Ground and Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Staraptor leans offensive (base 120 Atk) rather than trying to tank its weaknesses.

Staraptor Guide

  • In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Staraptor looks average on paper at 485 BST. But Intimidate is why it sees play. Build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier sweeper on our tier list. Bravebird with Choice Scarf is the standard set.

  • In HeartGold & SoulSilver, Staraptor's biggest threats include Manectric (Electric), Weavile (Ice), and Golem (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Staraptor's base 100 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.

  • Staraptor gets Intimidate and Reckless. But Intimidate is the one that matters. It's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that. With base 100 Speed, Intimidate gives Staraptor an edge before opponents can react.

  • Staraptor is a physical attacker with base 120 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. Speed tells the real story. Base 100 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • In HeartGold & SoulSilver, the best way to handle Staraptor: Priority moves (Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Ice Shard) bypass its speed. Bulky walls that resist its STAB also shut it down.

Game Availability

Debuting in Diamond & Pearl, Staraptor appears in 13 games across 7 generations. A reliable presence in a solid number of games, typically found through wild encounters.
