Mid-stage Pokemon like Slakoth rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Slaking, which is where the real potential kicks in. Ghost moves can't touch it, and only a single type hits it super-effectively. Known as the Slacker Pokemon.
Nothing fancy in Slakoth's spread. It leans physical with HP out front. And you'll get 1 HP EV per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
It spends nearly all its time in a day sprawled out. Just seeing it makes one drowsy.
Slakoth Weakness
GoodSlakoth's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting moves. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Slakoth's physical bulk (base 60 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
Slakoth kicks off a three-stage evolution line through Vigoroth all the way to Slaking. For breeding, quick to hatch with a massive partner pool via one egg group. The evolved forms gain up to 390 total stats over Slakoth.
How to Evolve
Breed Slakoth easily with 180 breeding partners from the Ground egg group. Pass egg moves like After You, Body Slam, Crush Claw and 8 more to offspring.

Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Slakoth won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 12 types means it always has an effective option. Double-Edge and Mega Kick anchor the STAB core.

Watch for Blaziken (Fighting) when using Slakoth. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 30 Speed, Slakoth won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Slakoth evolves into Vigoroth at level 18. Slakoth is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.
Truant skips every second turn — that's the one you want on Slakoth. It's the only ability Slakoth has.
Slakoth is a physical attacker with base 60 Attack. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.
