Mid-stage Pokemon like Slakoth rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Slaking, which is where the real potential kicks in. Ghost moves can't touch it, and only a single type hits it super-effectively. Known as the Slacker Pokemon.

Nothing fancy in Slakoth's spread. It leans physical with HP out front. And you'll get 1 HP EV per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.

The way Slakoth lolls around makes anyone who watches it feel like doing the same.

X

If it eats just three leaves in a day, it is satisfied. Other than that, it sleeps for 20 hours a day.

Y

Slakoth Weakness

Good

Slakoth's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting moves. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Slakoth's physical bulk (base 60 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Slakoth won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 11 types means it always has an effective option. Double-Edge and Mega Kick anchor the STAB core.

Slakoth can't be caught in X & Y. Bring it over from Ruby, Emerald, or Scarlet instead. The encounter info below covers the source games.

Slakoth is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Catch in the wild in:

Then trade to X & Y.

Also found in:

  • At 280 BST, Slakoth is firmly in pre-evolution territory. Evolve it into Vigoroth before bringing it to any serious fight.

  • Watch for Blaziken (Fighting) when using Slakoth. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 30 Speed, Slakoth won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Slakoth evolves into Vigoroth at level 18. Slakoth is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.

  • Truant skips every second turn — that's the one you want on Slakoth. It's the only ability Slakoth has.

  • Slakoth is a physical attacker with base 60 Attack. Fragile — can't afford to take many hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 30 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Slakoth appears in 14 games, including Ruby & Sapphire, FireRed & LeafGreen, and Emerald.

Debuting in Ruby & Sapphire, Slakoth appears in 14 games across 7 generations. A reliable presence in a solid number of games, typically found through catching or hatching as a base form.
