Mid-stage Pokemon like Shinx rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Luxray, which is where the real potential kicks in. Only weak to Ground. Known as the Flash Pokemon.
Attack and HP carry most of Shinx's stat budget. Defense's the obvious dump stat. Easy to catch and yields 1 Attack EV. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
All of its fur dazzles if danger is sensed. It flees while the foe is momentarily blinded.
Its forelegs have a muscle-based system of generating electricity. Its body shines when it is in danger.
Shinx Weakness
GoodShinx's Electric typing leaves it vulnerable to Ground moves. Few weaknesses and 3 resistances make the typing clean. Just 1 weak spot to worry about, which keeps teambuilding straightforward.
Three stages ahead. Shinx grows into Luxio, then pushes on to Luxray. Check the evolution methods below. For breeding, average hatch time with no compatible partners via one egg group. The evolved forms gain up to 260 total stats over Shinx.
How to Evolve
Breed Shinx easily from the Ground egg group. Pass egg moves like Baby-Doll Eyes, Double Kick, Eerie Impulse and 10 more to offspring.
Best Build
No build content available for this Pokemon in Gen 8.
Try selecting a different game/generation filter, or check back later.
You'll want to breed for Baby-Doll Eyes and Double Kick on Shinx. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Thunder and Wild Charge, they expand what Shinx can actually threaten in practice.

Tutor Moves
high spawn rates in early-game routes across 18 locations. Shinx's one of the easier catches on the list. Knock it out fast and save your time for harder targets.
Best Locations
You can catch Shinx through 18 walking encounters from Lv. 3-28, but availability differs between Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond. Some spots are exclusive to one version.
Shinx is meant to evolve into Luxio. At 263 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Watch for Garchomp (Ground) when using Shinx. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Shinx evolves into Luxio at level 15. Shinx is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.
Intimidate is what you want on Shinx. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Rivalry, Guts) work on paper but Intimidate is what makes Shinx worth using.
Base 45 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Shinx is a physical attacker with base 65 Attack. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Shinx appears in 13 games, including Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, and Diamond & Pearl.
Available in 13 titles since its debut in Diamond & Pearl, Shinx spans 6 generations of Pokemon games. It's accessible through catching or hatching as a base form in a solid number of games.
