Everything pushes toward physical damage here. Scolipede's Speed does the work, Sp. Atk pays the price. But you're still getting 3 Speed EVs per KO. Tough to catch, on a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It clasps its prey with the claws on its neck until it stops moving. Then it finishes it off with deadly poison.

Watch for Charizard (Fire), Aerodactyl (Flying), and Espeon (Psychic) when using Scolipede. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Rock-type attackers are also a problem. Scolipede's base 112 Speed lets it outpace many threats and strike first, which matters more than trying to tank hits.
Whirlipede evolves into Scolipede at level 30. Scolipede is the final evolution in a 3-stage line starting from Venipede. At 485 BST, it's got solid stats to work with.
