It dissolves and eats metal. Circulating liquid metal within its body is how it generates energy.

Meltan is weak to Fire, Fighting, and Ground. On the flip side, it's immune to Poison-type moves entirely. With 10 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Meltan's physical bulk (base 65 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.

Meltan runs a standard defensive wall set. Relaxed nature with max HP and Defense EVs shapes the build, while Leftovers brings passive recovery each turn. Magnetpull supports the kit from the background.

Moves

TMs carry this one. Meltan learns Steel Beam and Flash Cannon naturally for STAB, but the offensive range comes almost entirely from technical machines. Electric and Dark and beyond give it real matchup play.

Meltan is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

This is an event-exclusive or special distribution.

  • Meltan is a Mythical Pokemon rated D-Tier. At 300 BST, it hits hard. It excels as a balanced.

  • Meltan's biggest threats include Infernape (Fire), Conkeldurr (Fighting), and Golem (Ground), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. At base 34 Speed, Meltan won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Magnet Pull is the go-to ability for Meltan. It prevents steel opponents from fleeing or switching out. It's Meltan's only ability.

  • Base 34 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. On offense, Meltan is leaning toward the physical side (base 65 Attack). Defensively? Fragile, can't afford to take many hits.

  • The core moveset is Toxic, Tailwhip, Gyroball, and Protect. Toxic leads at 25% usage. This set covers the balanced role with a mix of damage and utility.

Meltan first appeared in Sun & Moon and has been available in 3 titles. Mythical distribution means event-only access in most games, making it one of the harder Pokemon to collect.
