Melmetal has the stats to dominate any format it's allowed in. 143 base Attack stands out, and the rest of the spread doesn't have obvious weak points either. Known as the Hex Nut Pokemon. Part of the Gen 7 roster.
The stat bars tell the story: Attack carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Hex Nut Pokemon still yields 3 Attack EVs per fight on a slow 1.25M XP grind.
In a distant land, there are legends about a cyclopean giant. In fact, the giant was a Melmetal that was flooded with Gigantamax energy.
It can send electric beams streaking out from the hole in its belly. The beams’ tremendous energy can vaporize an opponent in one shot.
Melmetal Weakness
ExcellentFire, Fighting, and Ground-type moves hit Melmetal for super-effective damage. The upside? Poison-type moves can't touch it at all. It resists 10 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Melmetal's physical bulk (base 143 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
You get Melmetal from Meltan through a special method. This Steel-type mythical caps the chain and sits outside every egg group. The evolution from Meltan pushed Melmetal to 600 total stats. HP saw the largest single gain at +89.
How to Evolve
Ironfist helps Melmetal stick around while dealing real damage. Leftovers for passive recovery each turn, max Attack without Speed EVs for the right balance, and Doubleironbash as the main threat. Not the fastest, but it doesn't need to be.

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Melmetal's coverage across 8 types all comes from technical machines, built on top of Steel Roller and Flash Cannon for same-type damage. Dynamic Punch and Superpower are the payoff moves.

At 600 BST, Melmetal is built different. We rank it A-Tier. As a Mythical Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a wallbreaker.
Meltan evolves into Melmetal through a special method. Melmetal is the fully evolved form. With 600 BST, it's a powerhouse in its final form.
Iron Fist strengthens punch-based moves to 1.2× their power — that's the one you want on Melmetal. It's the only ability Melmetal has.
Melmetal is a physical attacker with base 143 Attack. Tanky enough to absorb a few hits, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 34 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. Fits the wallbreaker role.
Melmetal can be found in Legends: Z-A, Sword & Shield, and Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee.
Introduced in Sun & Moon, Melmetal shows up in 3 games across 3 generations. Mythical status keeps it locked behind events or specific story content in most appearances.
