Is Luxray Good in Sword & Shield Playthrough?
Luxray's 120 Attack is impressive for an Electric-type, but most Electric moves run off Special Attack. Wild Charge and Thunder Fang give it physical options, both with drawbacks (recoil and low power). AbilityIntimidate provides team utility. Handles Nessa and contributes against Raihan's Flying types. Competent, not elite.
Milo's typing presses Shinx's defenses.
Shinx has the type edge here and should clean up Nessa's team.
Kabu's typing presses Shinx's defenses.
Bea's typing presses Shinx's defenses.
Shinx trades roughly evenly with Opal's team.
Shinx trades roughly evenly with Gordie's team.
Shinx trades roughly evenly with Piers's team.
Raihan's team hits Shinx's weaknesses hard.
Bede's typing presses Shinx's defenses.
Luxray trades roughly evenly with Leon's team.
Catch Shinx on Challenge Beach (walking, Lv 13-18). Raining.
Your Shinx should hit Level 30 before you reach Leon, at typical leveling pace.

Ground moves hit Luxray for super-effective damage. Its Electric typing keeps the defensive matchups simple. With 80 HP and balanced defenses, Luxray can afford to eat a neutral hit or two.

Luxray Evolutions
Luxray is the final form in a three-stage chain from Shinx through Luxio. Breeding this form produces Shinx eggs (average hatch time). Evolving from Shinx gave Luxray the biggest boost in Attack (+55), bringing the total to 523 stats. View every chain in the Evolution Chart.
How to Evolve
Breeding
Breed with Luxray to get Shinx eggs easily using 152 partners from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Baby-Doll Eyes, Double Kick, Howl and 4 more.
SwSh Luxray Best Moveset
120 Attack with AbilityIntimidate for Attack drops on entry gives the moveset physical power plus defensive utility. But Electric typing on a physical attacker is awkward since most Electric moves use Sp. Atk. MoveWild Charge provides physical Electric TermStab at recoil cost. D-tier because 70 Speed loses critical matchups.

Moves List
Without breeding, Luxray misses out on Baby-Doll Eyes and Double Kick. That's 7 egg moves adding depth that the base kit lacks. STAB comes from Thunder and Wild Charge, with coverage across 8 types rounding things out.

Base Stats
Luxray can see through solid objects. It will instantly spot prey trying to hide behind walls, even if the walls are thick.
Seeing through solid objects uses up a lot of Luxray’s electricity, so the Pokémon sleeps for long periods of time to store up energy.
Luxray Sword & Shield Guide
In Sword & Shield, Don't let Luxray's 523 base stat total fool you. Intimidate is what makes it tick. It punches way above its weight class. We rate it C-Tier as a wallbreaker. Ice Fang with Air Balloon is the standard set.
In Sword & Shield, watch for Rhydon (Ground) when using Luxray. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
In Sword & Shield, Run Intimidate on Luxray. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Luxray also gets Rivalry and Guts, but they don't compare.
In Sword & Shield, Luxray fills the wallbreaker role. It's a mixed attacker with base 120 Attack and 95 Sp. Atk. Base 70 Speed is workable. Faster than some, slower than many. And it's enough bulk to take a hit or two.
In Sword & Shield, run Ice Fang, Thunderbolt, Babydolleyes, and Faketears on Luxray. Ice Fang is the most common pick at 0% usage. Thunderbolt provides reliable STAB damage.
