Mid-stage Pokemon like Frogadier rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Greninja, which is where the real potential kicks in. Sits at a decent but contested Speed tier. Only weak to Electric and Grass.
Frogadier's built around mixed offense. Speed leads the charge, Defense pays for it. Tough to catch, worth 2 Speed EVs. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
It can throw bubble-covered pebbles with precise control, hitting empty cans up to a hundred feet away.
Its swiftness is unparalleled. It can scale a tower of more than 2,000 feet in a minute’s time.
Frogadier Weakness
GoodElectric and Grass-type moves hit Frogadier for super-effective damage. It resists 4 types, giving it decent defensive coverage. Only 2 weaknesses makes it relatively easy to build around defensively.
Frogadier is the middle stage between Froakie and Greninja. It's a three-stage line with one more evolution to go. For breeding, average hatch time with no compatible partners via one egg group. So far, Speed got the biggest boost (+26 from Froakie). The final form adds another 125 stats on top.
How to Evolve
Breed with Frogadier to get Froakie eggs from the Water1 egg group. Notable egg moves include Bestow, Camouflage, Mind Reader and 4 more.
Frogadier leads with Focus Sash insurance. Even if it can't take a hit naturally, it'll survive long enough to deal early damage. Max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs go all-in on offense since bulk doesn't matter here.

Frogadier isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Greninja to unlock its full potential. At 405 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Run Protean on Frogadier. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Frogadier also gets Torrent, but they don't compare.
Frogadier fills the hazard setter role. It's a special attacker with base 83 Sp. Atk. Base 97 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Frogadier appears in 6 games, including X & Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Introduced in X & Y, Frogadier has appeared in 6 games across 4 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
