Ice Face blocks one physical hit for free, then resets in hail — and that one ability is what makes Eiscue worth using. Without it, the stats don't hold up on their own. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.

Eiscue's built to absorb hits, not race for knockouts. Physical bulk with Defense doing the heavy lifting. And the slow 1.25M XP grind means it won't take forever to bring up, worth 2 Defense EVs.

The ice that was covering this Eiscue’s face has shattered. Eiscue emits cold air from the tip of its hair to protect its head, which is sensitive to heat.

Scarlet

Contrary to its looks, Eiscue is a poor swimmer. It creates ice balls at the tip of its single hair to lure prey in and fish them up.

Violet

Eiscue Weakness

Fragile

Eiscue's Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel moves. Not too many gaps in the chart, 4 weaknesses to account for.

Abilities
Ice FaceThe Pokémon’s ice head can take a physical attack as a substitute, but the attack also changes the Pokémon’s appearance. The ice will be restored when it snows.

Eiscue doesn't evolve, so breeding's where the action is. You'll find a massive partner pool across two egg groups, and eggs are average hatch time. It's got 6 egg moves worth looking into.

Sitrus Berry and Iceface form the backbone. Eiscue invests max Attack and Speed EVs to play its physical attacker role properly, and Jolly nature pushes Speed higher. Bellydrum handles the heavy lifting on offense. Water coverage rounds it out.

You'll want to breed for Aqua Ring and Belly Drum on Eiscue. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Blizzard and Ice Beam, they expand what Eiscue can actually threaten in practice.

Eiscue can't learn any Tutor moves

Eiscue sits at moderate rates across 5 spots in mid-game routes. Pick one from the sorted list and commit to it. Jumping between areas wastes more time than waiting in the right location.

Best Locations

Catching Eiscue takes patience. The 5 walking encounters at Lv. 20-50 all have low spawn rates, so pick one location and stay put for the best odds.

  • Eiscue looks average on paper at 470 BST. But Ice Face is why it sees play — build around that and it pulls its weight. C-Tier on our tier list.

  • Watch for Cinderace (Fire), Machamp (Fighting), and Aerodactyl (Rock) when using Eiscue. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Steel-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Eiscue doesn't evolve and has no evolutionary line. It's a Ice-type Pokemon with a 470 base stat total.

  • Eiscue gets Ice Face. But Ice Face is the one that matters — it's the centerpiece of every viable set. Build around that.

  • Eiscue is a physical attacker with base 80 Attack. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 50 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go.

  • Eiscue can be found in Scarlet & Violet and Sword & Shield.

Since Sword & Shield, Eiscue has been obtainable in 2 games. A Generation 8 debut means a shorter history, but Eiscue has appeared steadily across every generation since.
