Ducklett is technically a pre-evolution of Swanna, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Ground moves can't touch it, and only 2 types hit it super-effectively. Flexible enough to run physical or special sets. Introduced in Gen 5.

An unusually even spread gives Ducklett flexibility. HP barely edges ahead. But Attack isn't far off. Common in the wild and follows a medium-fast 1M XP curve. Yields 1 HP EV.

When attacked, it uses its feathers to splash water, escaping under cover of the spray.

They are better at swimming than flying, and they happily eat their favorite food, peat moss, as they dive underwater.

Ducklett Weakness

Excellent

Ducklett is weak to Electric and Rock-type moves. Watch out for Electric attacks, those deal 4x damage. On the flip side, it's immune to Ground-type moves entirely. 5 resistances help offset the weaknesses.

Ducklett doesn't rely on pure speed. Heavy-Duty Boots gives it hazard immunity on every switch-in to stay healthy, and Timid nature still pushes offense. Surf and double STAB keep the pressure on while a spread EV build EVs balance power and survivability.

Recommended Teammates

Egg moves make a real difference. Ducklett gets Aqua Jet and Brine exclusively through breeding, filling gaps that TMs and level-up can't touch. Fairy and Normal coverage and more rounds out the picture alongside Brave Bird and Hurricane.

Ducklett is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

Also found in:

  • Ducklett is meant to evolve into Swanna. At 305 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.

  • Ducklett's biggest threats include Jolteon (Electric) and Golem (Rock), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Jolteon is the most dangerous since Electric moves deal 4x damage. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.

  • Ducklett evolves into Swanna at level 35. Ducklett is the base form of this evolutionary line.

  • Keen Eye is the go-to ability for Ducklett. It prevents accuracy from being lowered. Its hidden ability Hydration can work in specific setups. Big Pecks is the other option — pick based on what your team needs.

  • At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Ducklett is a special attacker with base 44 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Ducklett appears in 7 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Ducklett joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 7 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
