By cooking food items, Link can create various food dishes including Elixirs similar to potions in previous games except these will not heal you instead they provide a Stat buff in more cases. The other main option is to cook Meals that increase Stats or resistance to Elemental Damage, but best of all the heals you for lots of heart containers.

How To Cook Food and Elixirs

Before you can use your Ingredients to Cook a Meal, Link will need to approach a Metal Bowl. In some cases, you will need to light a fire underneath it. Some food recipes require an open flame campfire to cook certain ingredients, but for the most part, a majority of your Zelda Breath of the Wild Crafting Recipes will be cooked in a Metal Bowl.

While Near an Open Flame or Lit Metal Bowl Press + to enter your inventory Screen.

You can place up 5 Ingredients, once you have selected however many you plan to use, Exit you Inventory Screen and press A to cook.

    Elixirs

Zelda Breath of the Wild Elixirs

Zelda Breath of the Wild Elixir Recipes are made the same way you make Food using a Metal Bowl. You will need two type of Ingredients to make Elixirs in Zelda Breath of the Wild.

    1. Critters: Frogs, Fireflies and Lizards.
    2. Monster Parts: Horns, Talon, Teeth, Guts and Fangs

When you kill Monsters they will Drop Items like Fangs and Horns, which you can then use to make Elixirs with helpful Status Buffs.

    Food Dishes

    Zelda-Breath-of-the-Wild-recipes
Food Dishes are cooked meals that will recover Link’s Heart Containers (HP) and can sometimes Provide you with Status Buffs, like Resistance to Cold.

    • Ingredients: Herbs, Meats, Mushrooms, Critters, Fish, and a lot more other Ingredients.

Cooked Food In Zelda Breath of the Wild is best known for the amount of Hearts ❤❤❤ it can heal and will be your main supply for strong healing Items.

How Does Cooking Work In Zelda Breath of the Wild?

Cooking Food in Zelda BotW is how Link will acquire the majority of Healing Items and Elixirs in the game. Since specifically Cooked food heals a lot more Hearts, then uncooked food. You will find yourself cooking and discovering new recipes as your progress through the story line and find Rare Ingredients for your dishes.

When you use an ingredient that contains a buff, it will have a prefix; Indicator to help you understand its effects on Link and Crafting Recipes using the ingredient.

You can’t combine these separate buffs, so no meal will be Hasty and Tough. But you can combine multiple of the same ingredient to stack the buff and make it last longer, for, example using two chillies instead of one in a cooking recipe for a Spicy Meal will make your Resistance To Cold buff last for a longer duration.
