Mid-stage Pokemon like Pignite rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Emboar, which is where the real potential kicks in. Known as the Fire Pig Pokemon. Can go either physical or special depending on the set.
Attack and HP carry most of Pignite's stat budget. Defense's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a 1.06M XP medium-slow curve.
The more it eats, the more fuel it has to make the fire in its stomach stronger. This fills it with even more power.
Pignite Weakness
AvgPignite's Fire/Fighting typing leaves it vulnerable to Water, Ground, Flying, and Psychic moves. With 6 resistances, the defensive profile is strong. Thick Fat reduces Fire/Ice damage, further improving the defensive spread.
- Fairy type does not exist — Dragon has fewer checks
- Physical / Special split now per-move (introduced Gen IV)
Partway through Tepig's chain. Pignite still has another evolution ahead before reaching Emboar. For breeding, average hatch time with no compatible partners via one egg group. So far, Attack got the biggest boost (+30 from Tepig). The final form adds another 110 stats on top.
How to Evolve
Breed with Pignite to get Tepig eggs from the Ground egg group. Notable egg moves include Body Slam, Covet, Curse and 7 more.
Don't let the NFE status fool you. Pignite with Eviolite hits bulk numbers that compete with final forms. Max HP and Attack EVs and Adamant nature maximize that, and Blaze handles the rest.

You'll want to breed for Body Slam and Covet on Pignite. These egg moves aren't just nice to have. Combined with STAB from Overheat and Flare Blitz, they expand what Pignite can actually threaten in practice.

You're catching Tepig first, not Pignite. Tepig appears but it's a rare spawn in the encounters below. The step cards map the full 2-stage line with evolution methods between each stage.

Pignite is meant to evolve into Emboar. At 418 BST, the stats aren't there for competitive play yet. Pre-evolution Pokemon rarely hold up against fully evolved threats.
Watch for Milotic (Water), Swampert (Ground), and Aerodactyl (Flying) when using Pignite. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Psychic-type attackers are also a problem.
Thick Fat is what you want on Pignite. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Blaze) work on paper but Thick Fat is what makes Pignite worth using.
At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Pignite is a special attacker with base 70 Sp. Atk. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two.
Pignite appears in 8 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.
Pignite joined the series in Black & White and has been available in 8 titles so far. With 5 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
