Ghost moves don't affect Komala at all — that's the advantage of Normal typing. It relies on priority moves or Scarf to keep up. The stat spread favors raw physical power. Introduced in Gen 7.
Attack and Sp. Def carry most of Komala's stat budget. HP's the obvious dump stat. Tough to catch and yields 2 Attack EVs. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.
It is born asleep, and it dies asleep. All its movements are apparently no more than the results of it tossing and turning in its dreams.
The log it holds was given to it by its parents at birth. It has also been known to cling to the arm of a friendly Trainer.
Komala Weakness
GoodKomala's Normal typing leaves it vulnerable to Fighting moves. It shrugs off Ghost-type attacks completely. Komala's special bulk (base 95 Sp.Def) helps absorb special-type weaknesses, though physical moves exploit the lower Defense.
Komala doesn't evolve, so breeding's where the action is. You'll find no compatible partners across one egg group, and eggs are average hatch time. It's got 4 egg moves worth looking into.
How to Evolve
Breed Komala easily from the Ground egg group. Pass egg moves like Charm, Play Rough, Sing and 1 more to offspring.
Comatose isn't flashy, but it matters. Combined with Assault Vest for a special bulk boost with no status moves allowed and flexible EVs EVs, Komala fills the attacker slot reliably. Hardy nature finishes the spread.

The natural movepool does the job, but Charm and Play Rough from the egg pool give Komala something extra. Pair those with Thrash and Slam for STAB and coverage across 9 types for reach, and the kit fills out nicely.

We rate Komala C-Tier — a situational pick that fills a niche. At 480 BST, it fits the wallbreaker role. Base 115 Attack stands out.
Watch for Machamp (Fighting) when using Komala. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Komala doesn't evolve and has no evolutionary line. It's a Normal-type Pokemon with a 480 base stat total.
Comatose this Pokémon always acts as though it were Asleep — that's the one you want on Komala. It's the only ability Komala has.
At base 65 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Komala is a physical attacker with base 115 Attack. Defensively? Enough bulk to take a hit or two. Best used as a wallbreaker.
Komala can be found in Scarlet & Violet, Sun & Moon, and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
Komala joined the series in Sun & Moon and has been available in 3 titles so far. With 3 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
