Nothing about Keldeo screams competitive powerhouse, and that's fine. Water/Fighting means 5 type weaknesses to keep in mind. Clears the crowded base-100 Speed benchmark. Known as the Colt Pokemon.

Nothing fancy in Keldeo's spread. It leans special with Sp. Atk out front. And you'll get 3 Sp. Atk EVs per KO for it. Follows a slow 1.25M XP grind.

Secretsword is the main STAB option after a Calm Mind boost. Leftovers gives Keldeo passive recovery each turn to survive the setup turn, and max Sp. Atk and Speed EVs make the boosted hits count. Water coverage catches resists.

The level-up pool is slim, so TMs matter here. Keldeo's Normal and Flying coverage and more all comes from technical machines, built on top of Close Combat and Focus Blast for same-type damage. Take Down and Aqua Tail are the payoff moves.

Keldeo is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

This is an event-exclusive or special distribution.

  • At 580 BST, Keldeo is built different. We rank it B-Tier. As a Mythical Pokemon, the raw stats back up the reputation. Best used as a sweeper.

  • Watch for Rotom (Electric), Venusaur (Grass), and Braviary (Flying) when using Keldeo. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Psychic and Fairy-type attackers are also a problem. With 5 weakness types, most competitive teams carry at least one counter.

  • Keldeo doesn't evolve. As a Mythical Pokemon, it stands on its own without an evolutionary line. It's a Water/Fighting type with 580 BST.

  • Justified raises Attack one stage upon taking damage from a dark move — that's the one you want on Keldeo. It's the only ability Keldeo has.

  • Keldeo is a special attacker with base 129 Sp. Atk. Enough bulk to take a hit or two, too. But the speed tells the real story — base 108 Speed lets it outrun most of the field. Fits the sweeper role.

  • Keldeo appears in 9 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.

Introduced in Black & White, Keldeo shows up in 9 games across 5 generations. Mythical status keeps it locked behind events or specific story content in most appearances.
