Mid-stage Pokemon like Jigglypuff rarely see competitive play outside of special formats. It's a waypoint on the road to Wigglytuff, which is where the real potential kicks in. Known as the Balloon Pokemon. Been around since Gen 1.

Jigglypuff's spread is anchored by HP, with balanced defenses backing it up. Defense is the clear weak point. Worth 2 HP EVs per KO, and the fast 800K XP curve keeps leveling painless.

Jigglypuff Weakness

Excellent

Jigglypuff's Normal/Fairy typing leaves it vulnerable to Poison and Steel moves. It shrugs off Ghost and Dragon-type attacks completely.

Breadth over depth defines this movepool. Jigglypuff won't stack one type's damage ceiling, but coverage across 12 types means it always has an effective option. Last Resort and Double-Edge anchor the STAB core.

Tutor Moves

Jigglypuff can't learn any Tutor moves

Jigglypuff isn't available in the wild in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Start by transferring Igglybuff from Crystal, Diamond, or Scarlet. The evolution path from Igglybuff to Jigglypuff is covered in the steps below.

How to Obtain Jigglypuff in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

  1. Igglybuff
    Step 1Breed Igglybuff from Jigglypuff
  2. Jigglypuff
    Step 2Jigglypuff
  • Jigglypuff isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Wigglytuff to unlock its full potential. At 270 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.

  • Watch for Nidoking (Poison) and Scizor (Steel) when using Jigglypuff. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Only 2 weaknesses means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 20 Speed, Jigglypuff won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.

  • Igglybuff evolves into Jigglypuff by leveling up. Jigglypuff evolves into Wigglytuff using a Moon Stone. Jigglypuff is a middle-stage evolution in the Igglybuff line.

  • Cute Charm has a 30% chance of infatuating attacking Pokémon on contact — that's the one you want on Jigglypuff. Friend Guard is the hidden ability. Niche, but it has its uses. Competitive works too if your team needs something different.

  • Jigglypuff fills the support role. It's a physical attacker with base 45 Attack. Base 20 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.

  • Jigglypuff appears in 21 games, including Yellow, Red & Blue, and Gold & Silver.

Jigglypuff has been part of the series since Red & Blue, appearing in 21 titles across all 9 generations. As a Gen 1 original, it's one of the most consistently available Pokemon in the franchise.
