Igglybuff is a baby Pokemon from Gen 2 — it can't hold its own in battle yet. The payoff is Wigglytuff, which is where the real competitive value lives. Worth raising if you need one on your team. Known as the Balloon Pokemon.
Igglybuff's spread isn't flashy. HP leads, Defense trails, 1 stats clear the bar. Common in the wild and worth 1 HP EV, on a fast 800K XP curve.
It has a very soft body. If it starts to roll, it will bounce all over and be impossible to stop.
Its extremely flexible and elastic body makes it bounce continuously--anytime, anywhere.
Igglybuff Weakness
GoodType-wise, Igglybuff takes extra damage from Fighting. Ghost moves do nothing thanks to a full immunity. Only 1 weakness makes it relatively easy to build around defensively.
- Dark and Steel types added — Fairy does not exist yet
- Moves are Physical or Special based on type, not per move
- Special stat split into Sp.Atk and Sp.Def
Igglybuff is the baby form here. It evolves into Jigglypuff by leveling up, but you can't breed it directly. Hatch one by breeding the evolved forms instead. Evolving adds up to 225 stat points total.

Breeding's the move. Feint Attack and Perish Song give Igglybuff options it can't learn any other way, and coverage across 9 types already covers a decent range on top of Headbutt and Hidden Power. The egg moves push it further.

Igglybuff can't be caught in Gold & Silver. Bring it over from Crystal, Diamond, or Scarlet instead. The encounter info below covers the source games.
Igglybuff isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Jigglypuff to unlock its full potential. At 210 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Igglybuff's biggest threats include Machamp (Fighting), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about. At base 15 Speed, Igglybuff won't outrun any of these threats so switching to a resist is usually the safer play.
Igglybuff evolves into Jigglypuff by leveling up. Igglybuff is the base form in a 3-stage evolutionary line.
Igglybuff fills the balanced role. It's leaning toward the special side (base 40 Sp. Atk). Base 15 Speed is low. Priority moves or Trick Room are the way to go. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Igglybuff appears in 18 games, including Gold & Silver, Crystal, and Ruby & Sapphire.
Igglybuff first appeared in Gold & Silver and has been available in 18 games across 8 generations. Obtainable through catching or hatching as a base form in most titles where it appears.
