Doublade is technically a pre-evolution of Aegislash, but it holds its own in formats where Eviolite is allowed. Normal, Fighting, and Poison moves can't touch it, which offsets the 4 weaknesses somewhat. Built to hit on the physical side.
The stat bars tell the story: Defense carries everything and Speed's dead weight. But this Sword Pokemon still yields 2 Defense EVs per fight on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
When Honedge evolves, it divides into two swords, which cooperate via telepathy to coordinate attacks and slash their enemies to ribbons.
The complex attack patterns of its two swords are unstoppable, even for an opponent greatly accomplished at swordplay.
Doublade Weakness
FortressDoublade is weak to Fire, Ground, Ghost, and Dark-type moves. On the flip side, it's immune to Normal, Fighting, and Poison-type moves entirely. It resists 9 types, so it can switch into a lot of moves safely. Doublade's physical bulk (base 150 Def) helps cushion physical weakness hits, but special attackers are the bigger threat.
Doublade connects Honedge to Aegislash in this chain. At least one evolution here needs an evolution item. Defense has grown the most so far (+50), but there's still another 52 stats to gain in the final evolution.
How to Evolve
Breed with Doublade to get Honedge eggs easily from the Mineral egg group. Notable egg moves include Destiny Bond, Metal Sound, Shadow Sneak and 1 more.
One boost from Swords Dance and Doublade gets dangerous fast. The Adamant nature targets max HP and Attack, and Noguard backs the whole approach. Swords Dance and the remaining moves handle most of what's left standing.
