Though it’s able to capture prey by freezing its surroundings, it has trouble eating the prey afterward because its mouth is on top of its head.

Arctovish's Water/Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Electric, Grass, Fighting, and Rock. Water Absorb grants an additional Water immunity, reshaping the matchup chart. Arctovish's overall bulk (90/100/90) lets it take a hit or two from most weaknesses before going down.

Expert Belt and Slushrush form the backbone. Arctovish invests max HP and Attack EVs to play its physical attacker role properly, and Adamant nature pushes Attack higher. Fishiousrend handles the heavy lifting on offense. The remaining moves rounds it out.

Level-up moves are just the starting point for Arctovish. TMs unlock Rock and Dark coverage and more and turn a straightforward STAB kit around Blizzard and Hydro Pump into something with actual range.

Arctovish is not available as a wild encounter in this game.

This is an event-exclusive or special distribution.

  • Slush Rush changes the entire equation for Arctovish. The 505 BST doesn't tell the full story. Ranked C-Tier.

  • Watch for Rotom (Electric), Breloom (Grass), and Lucario (Fighting) when using Arctovish. They all hit it super-effectively with STAB. Rock-type attackers are also a problem.

  • Slush Rush is what you want on Arctovish. Every competitive set worth running is built with that ability in mind. The alternatives (Water Absorb, Ice Body) work on paper but Slush Rush is what makes Arctovish worth using.

  • At base 55 Speed, it won't be moving first often. On offense, Arctovish is a physical attacker with base 90 Attack. Defensively? Tanky enough to absorb a few hits.

  • Arctovish's hidden ability is Slush Rush. During Hail, this Pokémon has double Speed. Better than the standard options for competitive play.

Arctovish joined the series in Sword & Shield and has been available in 1 titles so far. With 3 generations of appearances, it's established itself despite the later start.
