Blitzle doesn't have much going for it on its own — the stats just aren't there. The payoff is Zebstrika, and getting there is worth the grind. Only weak to Ground. Known as the Electrified Pokemon.
Blitzle's spread isn't flashy. Speed leads, Defense trails, 0 stats clear the bar. Common in the wild and worth 1 Speed EV, on a medium-fast 1M XP curve.
When thunderclouds cover the sky, it will appear. It can catch lightning with its mane and store the electricity.
Its mane shines when it discharges electricity. They use the frequency and rhythm of these flashes to communicate.
Blitzle Weakness
GoodType-wise, Blitzle takes extra damage from Ground. Its Electric typing keeps the defensive matchups simple. Lightning Rod grants an additional Electric immunity, reshaping the matchup chart.
Blitzle evolves into Zebstrika. It's a two-stage chain with the method shown below. No compatible partners for breeding via one egg group. Eggs are average hatch time. Evolving adds up to 202 stat points total.
How to Evolve
Breed Blitzle easily from the Ground egg group. Pass egg moves like Double Kick, Double-Edge, Endure and 7 more to offspring.

The egg pool carries weight here. Double Kick and Double-Edge aren't available any other way for Blitzle, and they meaningfully change what it threatens. Stack those on top of Thunder and Wild Charge for solid options.

Blitzle isn't fully evolved, so it's not built for competitive play. You'll want to evolve it into Zebstrika to unlock its full potential. At 295 BST, it's a stepping stone rather than a team anchor.
Blitzle's biggest threats include Golem (Ground), all carrying super-effective STAB moves. Only 1 weakness means fewer dedicated counters to worry about.
Blitzle evolves into Zebstrika at level 27. Blitzle is the base form of this evolutionary line.
Run Lightning Rod on Blitzle. It's the ability that defines how you build around it and the main reason it holds a competitive niche. Blitzle also gets Motor Drive and Sap Sipper, but they don't compare.
Blitzle fills the balanced role. It's leaning toward the physical side (base 60 Attack). Base 76 Speed is workable — faster than some, slower than many. And it's fragile — can't afford to take many hits.
Blitzle appears in 7 games, including Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, and X & Y.
Introduced in Black & White, Blitzle has appeared in 7 games across 5 generations. Later debuts mean fewer total appearances, but it's been a consistent presence since its introduction.
