  1. Reach Great Trainer rank and open the Bleak Beach checkpoint gate.
  2. Find Smearguru under the gazebo on the far northern beach.
  3. Give Smearguru a Leppa Berry (headbutt berry trees to find one).
  4. Use a Pokemon with the Crush specialty (Pawmi, Pawmo, or Onix) to turn the berry into Red Dye.

  6. Build a Tiny Atelier habitat to officially recruit Smearguru.

About Smearguru#

A Smeargle covered head to tail in red, blue, green, and yellow paint with an oversized brush at the end of its tail. You'll spot Smearguru in Bleak Beach under a gazebo on the far northern shore, muttering and obsessing over art. Despite the messy appearance, this is Pokopia's go-to specialist for furniture customization. Once recruited, Smearguru can recolor your items, apply patterns, and even paint individual segments of multi-part furniture separately.

Services#

Recolors and customizes eligible furniture using the Paint specialty. Items with a paintbrush icon in their inventory info can be brought to Smearguru for a color change. You can also craft Paint Balloons and throw them at furniture or building exteriors yourself. To get started, bring Smearguru a Leppa Berry, have a Pokemon with the Crush specialty (Pawmi, Pawmo, or Onix work) turn it into Red Dye, then return it to unlock the Paint Balloon recipe.

Paint Specialty#

  • Bleak Beach, under a gazebo on the far northern shore. Reach Great Trainer rank to pass the checkpoint gate, then head to the beach. Smearguru is the paint-covered Smeargle muttering over art.

  • Two ways. Talk to Smearguru directly and hand over the furniture piece for recoloring. Or craft Paint Balloons at a crafting bench (2x base paint per balloon) and throw them at furniture or building exteriors. Only items with a paintbrush icon in their inventory info are eligible.

  • Give berries to a Pokemon with the Crush specialty. Leppa Berry makes Red, Aspear Berry makes Yellow, Pecha Berry makes Pink, Rawst Berry makes Cyan, Chesto Berry makes Blue, and Lum Berry makes Green. Black and White appear as random bonus drops when crushing any berry. Combine base paints at a crafting bench for secondary colors like Rose (Red + Pink) or Brown.

  • Smearguru can recolor eligible furniture, apply patterns, and paint individual segments of multi-part pieces in different colors. You can also bring Smearguru along as a follower to paint buildings directly in the field.
