Pokopia takes place across five distinct areas, each one built on the ruins of a classic Kanto location. You start in the Withered Wasteland and gradually unlock new zones by increasing your Trainer Rank. Every area has its own biome type, unique area mechanic, harvestable crops, habitats, buildings, field moves, and a legendary Pokemon encounter.
Withered Wasteland
Starting area. Befriend Kanto starters, build first home, rebuild Pokemon Center. Learn Water Gun, Leafage, Cut, Rock Smash, Rototiller, Jump.
Bleak Beach
Second area featuring S.S. Anne, weather cycles, Meowth questline. Learn Surf, Camouflage, Spit Up. Encounter Raikou.
Rocky Ridges
Third area with Pewter Museum, fossil Pokemon. Learn Strength, Rollout. Encounter Volcanion.
Sparkling Skylands
Final story area. Learn Glide, Waterfall, Magnet Rise. Encounter Mewtwo.
Palette Town
Creative sandbox area. Free-build with no story constraints.
There are five explorable areas: Withered Wasteland (based on Fuchsia City), Bleak Beach (Vermilion City), Rocky Ridges (Pewter City and Mt. Moon), Sparkling Skylands (Celadon City and Saffron City), and Palette Town (Pallet Town). Each one is a ruined Kanto location that you rebuild over the course of the game.
You start in the Withered Wasteland and unlock Palette Town shortly after the tutorial. Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges both open after completing the main quest "Yawn Up A Storm!" in the Wasteland. Sparkling Skylands is the final area and requires finishing the main quests in all three previous areas.
All five areas have legendary encounters. Withered Wasteland has Kyogre and Mew, Bleak Beach has Raikou, Rocky Ridges has Volcanion, and Sparkling Skylands has Mewtwo. Palette Town lets you encounter Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres by building special kits (Freezing Chambers, Abandoned Power Plant, and Altar of the Flame). Lugia and Ho-Oh can also appear overhead once you befriend the right combination of legendaries.
Palette Town is the game's creative sandbox and the primary multiplayer zone. It has no story quests or progression requirements. You can build and terraform freely without terrain constraints. It serves as the shared map for Cloud Islands co-op building (up to 4 players). Eevee and all eight Eeveelutions have unique habitats there, and you can build kits to encounter the three legendary birds.
Trainer Ranks gate access to later areas. The Withered Wasteland and Palette Town are available from the start (no rank required). Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges need Great Rank, which you earn by completing the first main quest. Sparkling Skylands requires Ultra Rank, earned after finishing all three other areas' main quests.
Yes. Withered Wasteland has a humidity system where you use Water Gun and Rock Smash to create springs and trigger rain. Bleak Beach requires restoring electricity with help from Electric-type Pokemon. Rocky Ridges uses a mood and party system. Sparkling Skylands adds glide traversal between floating islands.
Yes, all areas stay accessible. You can return to any area at any time to continue building habitats, completing requests, or working on buildings. Some field moves learned in later areas also unlock new possibilities in earlier zones.
Three of the five areas support crop farming. Withered Wasteland grows Beans, Bleak Beach grows Tomatoes, and Rocky Ridges grows Wheat. Sparkling Skylands and Palette Town do not have farmable crops. Each area also tracks a unique progression metric you need to raise — Humidity in the Wasteland, Bloom Points at the Beach, Mood in the Ridges, and Construction Progress in the Skylands.
