Wild Pokemon won't just wander in. Every species needs a specific habitat setup before it'll show up. Check what's required in the Habitat Dex, build the right mix of grass, water, and furniture, and then wait. Some Pokemon only appear at certain times or in certain weather.
Steps#
- Check the Habitat Dex to see what each Pokemon requires (available in the in-game Pokedex).
- Prepare the area by growing grass, planting trees, or placing water as needed.
- Place the required furniture or decorations — campfires, punching bags, boulders, etc.
- Make sure the habitat setup matches the Requirements listed for the target Pokemon.
- Wait for the Pokemon to appear in the area. Some appear at specific times of day or weather.
- Talk to the Pokemon to befriend it once it arrives.
Starter Habitats to Build First
These are the simplest habitats in the game — build them early to start growing your team.
Wild Pokemon start visiting within one in-game day of completing a habitat. The first ones usually show up by the next morning. Rarer Pokemon take longer and may only appear during specific times of day or weather conditions.
Not directly, but each habitat has a fixed pool of Pokemon that can spawn there. The pool depends on the habitat type, biome, and requirements. Check any habitat's page on our habitats list to see exactly who shows up.
Tall Grass. It only needs 4 Tall Grass patches (use a Litter Pokemon), and it attracts common starters like Bulbasaur and Geodude. Build it in Withered Wasteland as soon as Professor Tangrowth teaches you the basics.
