Berries are one of those things you should always be collecting. Headbutt berry trees to shake them loose (costs no PP), or grow your own bushes with Water Gun. Different berries do different things: Leppa restores PP, Pecha cures poison, Lum handles any status.
Steps#
- Find a berry tree in any area (they look like small fruit-bearing trees).
- Press A near the tree to headbutt it — Ditto shakes berries loose. This costs no PP.
- Pick up the fallen berries. Different trees yield different berry types.
- If a tree looks dried out, use Water Gun on it to restore it. Restored trees may produce different berry varieties.
- Use berries by eating them (PP recovery), gifting them to Pokemon (Comfort boost), or cooking with Chef Dente (enhanced food).
- Leppa Berry specifically recovers PP. Berries can also be crushed at Smearguru for paint dyes.
Berry Types
Headbutt trees and use Water Gun to grow berry bushes. Each berry has a different effect.
A berry that restores PP when eaten
A berry that has a well-balanced flavor. Restores some PP when eaten.
A berry that provides a beneficial effect when eaten
The longer and more curled the leaves are, the more bitter this berry tastes. Restores some PP when eaten
Three ways: Headbutt berry trees in the wild (they respawn daily), grow berry bushes on your island using Water Gun, or buy them from NPC shops in later areas. Headbutting is the fastest early-game method. Farming scales better long-term.
