Pokemon Pokopia drops you on an uninhabited island with nothing but a backpack and some starter Pokemon. These guides walk you through every system in the game, from gathering materials and crafting furniture to befriending wild Pokemon and building habitats that actually work.

  • Gather Sturdy Sticks and Stone immediately. You need them for a Campfire (your first light source and cooking station) and a Workbench (required for all crafting). After that, start cutting trees with the Cut move to stockpile Small Logs. Build a basic habitat as soon as Professor Tangrowth teaches you how. The sooner you start attracting wild Pokemon, the sooner you get access to specialties that speed up every other task in the game.

  • Every structure starts with a Building Kit crafted at your Workbench. Place the kit where you want the building, then assign a Pokemon with the Build specialty to construct it. Larger structures take longer and need more materials. You can furnish completed buildings with crafted furniture, and each piece raises the comfort level of any Pokemon living there.

  • Walk up to wild Pokemon in the overworld and interact with them. Some respond to feeding, others to gifts, and a few need you to complete a task first. Once friendship is high enough, the Pokemon joins your team. Befriended Pokemon can be assigned to habitats and will use their specialty abilities to help you gather resources, build structures, or unlock new areas.

  • Specialties are unique abilities that each befriended Pokemon brings to your island. Scyther has the Chop specialty and converts Small Logs into Lumber. Pidgey has Search and can find hidden items with a Dowsing Machine. Pawmi has Crush and turns berries into dye for paint. There are over a dozen specialties, and building the right team composition is the key to progressing efficiently. See the full specialties list for details.

  • Five areas in total. Four exploration regions: Withered Wasteland (starter area), Bleak Beach (unlocked at Great Trainer rank), Rocky Ridges (mid-game), and Sparkling Skylands (endgame). Each region introduces new materials, Pokemon, NPCs, and crafting recipes. Your personal island is the fifth area and serves as the central base where you build habitats and manage your Pokemon team between expeditions.

  • Pokemon Pokopia supports co-op for up to four players on Nintendo Switch 2, both local wireless and online. Online requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Each player brings their own island progress and Pokemon team. Visitors can help gather materials, build structures, and explore the host's island. Multiplayer unlocks once you reach Environment Level 2 in Withered Wasteland.
